Hi Allison! I’d love to do a post on corsets and wedding dress shopping, perhaps in the New Year. But! Until then, you can read my guest series on finding your dream wedding dress over at Hourglassy here.

    Hey there,

Let me first say that I absolutely love your blog. As a larger busted woman myself I really appreciate your insight and reviews…it’s been sooooo helpful. I have been reading your posts all about your pregnancy and first of all want to say congratulations! Secondly, I was hoping you would consider writing a blog about how your pregnancy has effected your breast growth. I know by reading what you’ve post that your boobs have grown quite substantially while pregnant. My question is what have you experienced? How much have yours grown? Does it happen overnight or overtime? My husband and I are currently trying to get pregnant and as a 34G already I was hoping to get some input on what to expect. The thought of getting even bigger than I already am is a little daunting…but I know it comes with the territory. Anyway, thanks again for your writing…it is greatly appreciated by many women. Congrats again on the new little one and I look forward to reading more of your posts!

    Best wishes,
    -Megan

      Hi Megan!

Thank you so much for reading the blog and for your kind words! It’s so wonderful to hear that the blog has been helpful to you and others!!

I will definitely be writing a post on pregnancy, breast growth, and some maternity must-haves to help ease the transition really soon! It’s in the works as I type so look for it in the next week or so :) It hasn’t always been easy for me as my breast type can be difficult to fit anyway, but I have learned a few tricks along the way. Prior to pregnancy I was nervous, too, about how much bigger my breasts would get so you’re not alone in wondering what might be in store! I definitely have days when they just seem huge, but most of the time, for me there has been so much other change going on with my body that somehow the new boobs seem to fit :) Now nursing, on the other hand…

Good luck to you and your husband, baby dust to you!!

Hi! I was reading up on some of the tops you found at Lululemon. I’m definitely going to go check it all out at the store, but wanted to know what you thought about their Ta Ta Tamer sports bra, if any opinion at all? I received a lift about 6 months ago & I know that naturally they will slowly go down a little bit, but after doing a couple zumba classes this past month, I feel like I’ve lost a lot of the hold/support from the surgery because of my bras, or lack of. Oh, and I’m a C cup, but am extra sensitive about sagging, support, and all of that…. especially after my procedure! Thanks in advance!

Hi Nilda! I would definitely recommend going into a local specialty shop to get fitted (if you don’t have one nearby, Nordstrom’s can also be good; but please avoid Victoria’s Secret or other regular department stores like Macy’s as their fitting services have put women in the wrong bras time and time again!). It sounds possible that your band size and your cup size may have shifted. A fitting pro will really be able to help you not only with the sizing problems you’re having but also in suggesting styles that will work well with your breasts post-lift. A couple of things to consider: the most support you will get from a bra will come from the band being snug enough; it should provide 85% of the support of the bra, not the straps :) If you feel like you’ve lost support from the bra, you may need a snugger band that will give you that support you are looking for. It could be that the elastic on your sports bras is simply stretched out, or that you’re now in a smaller band size, but a good fitter will definitely be able to advise you on this! Also, something to keep in mind is that if you have, in fact, gone down in band size, there’s a possibility that you could go up in cup size even if your breasts haven’t actually changed in volume. It sounds crazy, but a 36C cup is equivalent in volume to a 34D cup, a 32DD cup, a 30E cup, and a 28F cup. (check out this post from a wonderful bra fitter, Claire at Butterfly Collection, for a great explanation of this!). If you do find yourself in a totally new band and cup size and don’t like the sound of it, try not to worry; what matters most is that you’ll get that hold and support you’re after! :)

A great way to get a good ballpark idea of what size you might currently be is to measure yourself wearing your best fitting bra with a fabric tape measure — I really like the instructions and bra calculator on A Sophisticated Pair (fitting yourself; bra calculator) and Butterfly Collection (fitting yourself; bra calculator). If you don’t have a place to get a good fitting nearby, I like these specialty stores who are available for online sizing and fit information:

      A Sophisticated Pair
Butterfly Collection free bra size consultation
      Linda’s Online

Good luck! And please let me know how it goes and if you need any further help! Xx

Oh! I forgot to reply about the Ta Ta Tamer. I haven’t been able to try it because it doesn’t come in my size, unfortunately! But it looks like a nice supportive bra for C-DD cups in 32-38 bands and worth a try! I still would recommend going to a good fitter first to find out what sizes work for you and what to look for in terms of good fit when you try the bra at Lulu. You want to make sure you have a good, snug supportive band and cups that encase all your breast tissue. I’m not sure how the Tamer runs, so look for signs of good fit versus just going off the size you often wear–sometimes sports bras can run tighter in the band, for example. I would start with the sizes a fitter suggests (or if you’re fitting at home, the sizes the calculators I recommended suggest for you) and going from there. (It might sound a little odd to talk about sizeS, plural, but I talk a little bit about why it can be helpful to think of it that way here.) Again, good luck! Let me know how it goes!

Hi Maria, thank you for your note! Ugh, the availability of bra sizes for you in stores sounds miserable, but I’m glad you’ve found UK stores online. They’re helping women the world over!! I’m glad you’ve found a great fit with the Curvy Kate bras. That’s great news!

As for the Panache sports bra, I found it to run a bit tighter in the band and a bit bigger in the cups, so when I was wearing a 28J in Panache Cleo (and 28 bands in Curvy Kate), the 30H in the Panache sports bra still worked best for me. I personally have found the Curvy Kate Showgirl line (thrill me, tease me) to run smaller in the cups–I need about two cup sizes bigger than what I’d wear in Panache or Panache Cleo cups.

What did you find big in the 30H, the cups or the band, or both? If it was just the cups, it might be worth trying the 30GG. But I would definitely check with the store you’ve ordered from and see if they can help you determine the best size for you in this bra, too, so you don’t have to keep exchanging it and paying for shipping! Hope this helps. Xx
